"US debt clock runs out of digits"




The US is, as of last month, in debt of over $10 trillion. An unprecedented amount that couldn't even fit into the debt counter which could only go as far as $9 trillion. This limit was set in March 2006.


Classic example of not spending within means. The US government has spent approximately 700b dollars on the war in Iraq under the Bush administration and the figure is expected to reach 1 trillion dollars by term end. Budget surpluses that were inherited 8 years before have now become insurmountable deficits.

Way to go.

"The clock's owners say two more zeros will be added, allowing the clock to record a quadrillion dollars of debt."

When was the last time anyone heard of a quadrillion dollars?
