where do you get off?

move you-anya marina.

the internet here is unbelievably unreliable. it basically sucks.

but atleast that gives me more time to read and not waste time surfing. sort of re-reading Inheritance of Loss again (as opposed to lect notes) cos I didn't read it properly the first time and some things didn't make much sense back then. and the writing's brilliant so it makes sense to read it twice.

wait-THANKS AL, DIDIE, NANA, REMY for Thursday! I suck at manipulating the fonts so that's as flashy as it will get, sorry :( i got to bed a little bit before 12 which i thought was a Great Idea. but they came over at around 12 i think (to what my sister initially thought were drunken men knocking on the door, leaving them to wait outside a little bit longer than normal) with the cake and the candles which was really sweet. I didn't look as appreciative as I would have liked to, heck I think I had this dead-pan face throughout the night but then again, that's probably how I look most of the time. The combination of lousy pyjamas and waay messy apartment was pretty embarassing. I kept thinking 'crap, why didn't I wear that sparkly flashy outfit tonight?'. Kiddiiing, I had no such thoughts. or such things. hehe. Thanks again, a million times over, really appreciate it. :)

went for the clinical placement which was really awkward, just standing there, watching and occasionally lifting limbs and accompanying people for walks. its ok and all, I just felt like this incompetent student trailing around.

watched 'Lives of Others' yesterday after being really close to not watching it. My sister really reaally did not want to watch it but I dragged her and she gave in at the last minute even when she really reaally did not want to watch it. she's nice like that.

In all fairness, its not a bad movie at all. In fact, it's pretty fuckin good. One of the most intriguing movies I've ever seen. Reading the summary was a bit off-putting, it sounded like one of those political movies that was going to be hard to follow if you didn't have a basic background knowledge of Germany in 1984. like Pearl Harbor, that political/bureaucratic jargon. but it was nothing like that, didn't deal with political issues in that way. (not like Syriana,no). Focused more on the characters and how they evolved throughout the movie. I love that loneliness/obsession theme that surfaces. It seems so realistic. It makes you think a fair bit and in the end, that's what everyone aims for. shit, I'd hate for people to miss out on this movie, its really that good.
