postmodernism
such a nerd, i went home and researched postmodernism, for no good reason. there's parts of it that really don't make sense but that's the point. i'm liking this cartoon strip because for one, it features dinosaurs which connotes both intelligence and comedy. ha, aren't they hilarious? Derrida is a good starting point for postmodernism, and then maybe move to Kant and then 'idea' of deconstruction.
"There is no outside of the text; everything that we can know is text, that is, is constructed of signs in relationship. This claim does not mean that there is nothing outside of language: the claim refers to the realm of human knowledge, not to the realm of concrete existence (elusive as that might be). Deconstruction does not deny the existence of an independent, physical world." taken from here
interesting, not that i can fully grasp it. i'm still looking into it, it seems worth it. post more about it later. more on deconstruction and the po-mo page
