hello, is this thing on?
Melbourne's not too different from how I remembered it a year ago. I realize I'm saying this as if I haven't been there in 20 years. "oh how the roads have changed! and these streetcars!"
I knew we'd attend atleast one gig there so after a 'collaborative discussion' with sister, we decided we'd get tix for Tokyo Police Club and Band of Horses. All this using her card with no intentions on my part to reimburse the money. I have no real income, have mercy. (Everything was eventually reimbursed so no worries.) It was Tokyo first, then Horses few days later. And verdict is: Simply amazing. Nothing beats seeing your favourite songs performed live, especially with ones like 'Citizens of Tomorrow' and 'The Funeral'. I thought Ben Bridwell surpassed every expectation I had and performed to perfection, and Tokyo was just pure fun.
Went to Philip Island as well which I was pretty ambivalent towards throughout the entire time. I like penguins like everybody else but the whole idea of watching them make their way to the burrows from a distance was pretty..unexciting. So that's it? Where's the part where they perform tricks for food? No, kidding, I hate that even more.
The best part abt Melbourne Zoo-orang utans. Brilliant creatures. Maybe one day I'll spend all my days taking care of them in Borneo, and teach them to read and do chores for me. Kidding, it's cruel, I'd never force them to read like that.
So I come back here and the camera is filled with endless pictures of orang utans and 'scenery on the way to Philip Island', taken at every possible angle. Digital cameras, and we click on anything and everything. I'll just put up one I think.
Snuck this orang utan into the souvenir shop without having anyone noticing...because it blended in...so well.
