finally, redeemed.

So in the end US wins the gold medal after defeating Spain in what was the most thrilling and exciting final match in the Olympics. They were without a doubt the best team out there judging by the quality of play and teamwork they've displayed throughout their matches in Beijing. Also, they got through without ever losing a match so again, they were highly deserving of it.

I won't go on and on with this, I just want to mention no. 5, Navarro, Williams and boy-wonder.

Rudy Fernandez who plays for Spain and dons the number 5 jersey was simply put it, insane. With so many exceptional players on court you didn't always know where to look but I couldn't take my eyes off Fernandez everytime he was on. Impeccable shooting with back-to-back 3-pointers from way outside the line besides producing many other notable points for the team. Maybe better than Pau Gasol in this one.

Juan Carlos Navarro, more than anyone else, left me awed and speechless. He creates opportunities when there is none. He has this distinctive way of shooting where he throws for the 2-point in mid-air. It almost always goes in. I don't know how to describe it in technical terms. I have no idea how to do him justice with words.

Deron Williams. Scored the most points for the US team. (I think, but I'll have to check.) He has no problem shooting from outside the line, he just has to throw it and it'll go in. No problem.

Lastly, two words: Ricky Rubio. Probably the best non-NBA player there is. Turned pro at the age of 14 (WHAT?) and is the youngest player to play in the Olympic's basketball final at 17. Half the time I couldn't believe what I was seeing, he's not a kid trying to make it big, he's already big. Adept at steals and rebounds and probably caused the most turnovers. (I think, but I'll have to check.) Absolutely phenomenal, like nothing you've ever seen.

But we all know how good players like Bryant and James are and in the end going past the US defence proved to be an impossible feat, even for Spain.

Its 118-107 at final whistle to Redeem Team, and boy did they finally prove something.

what CAN we do but start watching match replays via youtube. Act as if we're watching it for the first time to fill it with suspense. Keep saying things like "That Phelps is something else huh?" to everyone.
