9.69
Its been all abt Olympics this past week. Some stats.
Jamaica's USAIN BOLT wins the gold in the eagerly-awaited, much talked about 100m men sprint final, setting a new world record of 9.69. Clear winner ahead of Richard Thompson and even had time to celebrate well before crossing the line. Only the fastest man on earth.
Everyone's pumped abt LCW making it to the finals, myself included but this pair deserves a mention-Indonesia's Hendra Setiawan and Markis Kido. Olympic gold medallists in men doubles badminton after defeating China. Witnessing Kido's backhand cross-court and Setiawan's smash at the net time and time again was to watch this game at its best.
Nothing much to say, I just thought I'd put her picture in. The game is always unpredictable when Safina's playing due to her inconsistency in performing. Produced 12 double faults (12! unheard of) in the match against China's Li Na but luckily was able to make up for it in the end and will now play in the gold-medal match where she'll meet fellow Russian, Elena Dementieva.
Considered to be the best basketball team in the world, the US team is determined to get it right at this Summer Olympics after dismal performances in Athens and the 2002 World Championship. Once boasting itself as the 'Dream Team', the newly-renamed 'Redeem Team' is set to reclaim past glory and cement its power-status with an insane line-up consisting basketball's biggest names such as Bryant, Anthony, James, Wade and Boozer, to name a few.
Not a current Olympian but someone to watch out for. Too cute, nevermind the fact that she probably doesn't know what that helmet is for.
