Wani just bought an iphone (!!), after making 3 trips to town. Its gorgeous, and I'm jealous.
Bought a new handcarry luggage for KL. Just as I was lugging it around town, I feel someone following behind me closely. Its a small boy and he comes really close up to the point that he is stepping on my flip flops. I turn around and he grabs the handle, pulling it towards him, and has the look on his face of wanting to have it, like it was a toy he could stroll around with. He keeps his grip and just then his dad (I assume) comes and calls after him.
"Brendan! Brendan! You don't even know the girl!"
He pulls the boy away.
"So sorry about this."
"No its okay."
I kept thinking what he wanted with the bag. It was no toy, I'll tell you now, lugging the thing around town was really no fun for anyone.
Valencia and Paris was good. The plan was 2 nights in Valencia first, then 3 in Paris. For starters, we actually missed the flight to Valencia, we looked at the flight departure time wrongly. Took the train from Galway to Dublin and arrived to find they'd closed the check-in counter 10 minutes prior. The alternative was a flight to Girona Airport in Spain for an additional 75 Euros. With little choice left we took just that. From Girona its a one hour bus ride to Barcelona and from there another 5 hour bus ride to Valencia. I was more annoyed with the unnecessary money we ended up forking out to get there than the extra time it took for the entire journey.
6 am, and finally at the hostel. Sticky and tired, messy, hungry and drained. We ring the bell and go up hoping to check in and get some rest but no, the guy who runs the place says:
"Now is 6am. You don't check in at 6 am! People are sleeping. You check in at 9!"
Not verbatim, but it was along those lines. None of our sad, dejected faces helped, he didn't want us there and that was that. Couldn't argue much, he had a point, but I thought he could have cut us some slack. Forced to wander around for 3 hours, kept looking for places to eat but none of the shops were open. The place was empty and dead that morning. It was just us 3 girls, and the only people around were drunks/sleazy boys coming back from clubs hollering god knows what. Bad start I know, but it gradually got better. (how could it not?)
I'll continue this later.
