100th post :) I can't for the life of me think of anything interesting worth writing so I'll list down the 5 best TV shows I've watched in the past 19 years (that I can remember).
5. Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry David is a genius, obviously. Co-creator of Seinfeld, creator and star of this one. The episodes are shot in a mockumentary style, same as The Office and Spinal Tap, the latter being the pioneer in it, I think. How the episodes are done is way of creating a story outline and letting the actors improvise their dialogue, which makes for spontaneous, funny and realistic acting. It revolves around Larry and the way he interacts with family, friends and strangers. Most of the time he'll say what's on his mind without thinking which then results in him getting into childish arguments about trivial matters with almost everyone. Its funny for sure, I watched few eps back to back and laughed out loud in every single one of them. Definitely worth watching. Stars Larry David, Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin.
4. The Simpsons & Lost I know it, the weirdest combination. I had to put Lost somewhere and I eenie-meenie-minee (?)-MOEd it to 4. ha, get it Moe, as in Moe Szyslak ha hahaaa. k, lame. The Simpsons for obvious reasons, it was the funniest show before all the other 'Family Guys' came out and still is. I don't have anything against Family Guy, The Simpsons just fares better. With characters like Chief Wiggum and Duffman how can anyone not like the show. Lost is the only drama in the list, the only one worth watching. The premise of the show and the episode contstruction which allows massive character development are brilliant. Its not tiring to watch unlike Heroes and oh, I don’t know, Psych. John Locke may be the best character so far in the show. I couldn’t care less about Kate’s background, I dread everytime her episodes come along. Stars: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. (I just wanted to write that name.)
3. 30 Rock & Boston LegalLast Thursday’s was the funniest episode of 30 Rock yet. Tina Fey is breaking all sorts of rules here. Her talent in comedy is extraordinary and to be able to create a show that funny is amazing. Cast members blend well together and I like the fact that there are no big name stars here save for Alec Baldwin. Lines are sharp and witty, almost on the same level as Boston Legal. Very few can compete with Boston Legal, not only does it have the smartest, sharpest lines in all of the planet but the delivery is to perfection thanks to James Spader and the ‘Denny Crane’ guy. Incredibly funny, take time to watch it, you have nothing better to do anyway.
2. Arrested Development There’s not much to say. The decision to use a handheld camera in shooting it has made a world of difference. Amazing cast with a few exceptions, I won’t say who. The star of the show is the script by a long shot, the comedy style was so different from anything else at the time and twice as funny which made it too damn good to miss. From David Cross’s “huzzah!” to Jason Bateman’s “Her?” its impossible not to love the show inside out. Stars: Michael Cera (which is reason enough.)
1. The Office UK If you haven’t watched Spinal Tap, you would have thought The Office to be the most original show you’ve seen in a long time. Spinal Tap (by the genius that is Christopher Guest) was a major influence on the show, from the video mockumentary style to the type of self-deprecating humour it incorporated. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, the show has made itself very different from the movie in alot of ways as well. The David Brent character is a revolution in itself, the funniest ‘sad little man’ to ever come out of a tv screen. The show is nothing without him. Stars: Ricky Gervais.
Other notable shows: South Park, The Office US.

syaza,i am tremendously disappointed to see that bloody ricky g has triumphed over the bluths.
you should catch up with lost season 3 (or have you?)-the season finale is unmissable.30 rock may be my fave new show,if only i could get my hands on sm eps-they don't show it here in aus,but at least there's a new one hour slot for that 70's show.
i totally agree with heroes-i would call it unwatchable, everything's really contrived and the staginess is unbearable.
i'm going to mourn now,and find sm office uk posters around uni to burn.
"i've made a huge mistake".yes syaza,you have.
haha, it couldn't be done. the office had to go #1. Try asking 1 million people abt this I think they'd agree with the rankings. Either that or they'd go 'what the hell's the office? you're wasting my time' and they'll then throw bottles at you. How do I know this?
pls don't burn the posters. pass them to me and in return I'll pass you posters of your favourite bands. I have loads I know you'll like-simple plan, the click five...and more. yes?
